Pearl Baseball & Softball Foundation was established in Uganda in 2014 with the purpose of empowering youths through baseball and to advance America's pastime in Uganda. We are based in Jinja. We have 4 teams right now in various communities, and with a total of about 80 active players. Since then, we have been operating and training teams but we had not yet registered first as a company limited by guarantee and then a community based organization. The benefits of this registration is that we shall officially be recognized by our government as a nonprofit and we get the benefits there is for all nonprofits from exemption of taxes to and being able to apply for grants.
The procedure requires a lot of paperwork with we have worked on and all that is left is to submit documents in the required offices so that we can receive our certificate of operation.
We are registering in two phases:
1. Secure a name with a business registration agency called URSB.
2. Register as a company limited by guarantee
3. Then come back to local government and register as a community based organization.
4. Register a postal address.
URSB will give us approval documents to submit at local government to get nonprofit certification.
So the money partly covers that procedure of and printing documents and transportation.
We ask you all to help us raise $700 we need to go through this procedure. We can't do this without your support. We need this money in 14 days so that we can begin to submit our documents.
