Campaign Story
***THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY DONATED! ***
Dear friends, as many of you know from our personal conversations, back in March we took in an abandoned, injured potbelly pig female who we saw in the valley. (She was even featured on LovingMalta as many people saw her there). She was abandoned together with 2 males. It was not planned, we just could not leave her there. Predictably, her belly kept growing and at the end of May she gave birth. 3 girls and 3 boys survived and we have been taking care of this poor mama and her babies throughout the summer. Beginning of August we got the males neutered at a clinic in Paola to prevent further breeding, of which there is way too much going on here in Malta, so much so that pigs are being thrown out into the streets along with cats and dogs.
Although the clinic charged us very moderately, it totalled up to almost 400 euros for the 3 boys to be neutered and chipped.
Some of them are booked to go to new homes, some still waiting. It's hard to ask the new adopters to reimburse us the neutering because they are families who, like us, have rescued and feed daily many more animals, not only the pig they are adding.
I have already paid the clinic one third from my pocket. f you could help with something small to help me pay the clinic what I owe them, I would be most grateful. Thank you for helping me clear up the mess that other people leave by carelessly breeding their pets and then abandoning them.
