Garry is a 5-year-old Blue Indian Ringneck Parakeet. You might recognise him from This vine or This video.

For a while Berry has had recurring issues with broken blood feathers.

Blood feathers or pin feathers are newly growing feathers on a bird that are still attached to an open blood supply. If a blood feather is broken or damaged it will bleed without stopping unless it is removed or sutured. This can be very dangerous, if left untreated, a bird can bleed out very quickly.

I have been very lucky to have been around to see when Berry has broken a blood feather and have been able to promptly get him to an avian vet who can stop the bleeding.

However the frequent vet bills are starting to take a toll, and combined with the frequent risk of bleeding out, and the stress associated with the injury and vets visits, my vet and I have discussed and decided upon amputating the part of Berry's wing where the feathers grow from.

This procedure will be very expensive, which is why we need your help!
Berry is is an intelligent, lively, outspoken bird and it really upsets me to see him suffering like this, and as cliche as it sounds, even one dollar donated by you will help.
