Help Paul Jacobson’s legal action for the right to freedom of speech of residents and ratepayers.

Help Paul set an important legal precedent so that no other resident or rate payer will be targeted and defamed.

Paul has served his community in good faith and with due care, donating over 75,000 hours to help residents with everything from cleaning up litter to severe issues such as muggings and stabbings. His time with his dear family has been sacrificed as well as attention to his business. He has made the sacrifice not only for the good of the community, but also for the good of the people and neighbourhood he loves.

Like Paul, other well-intentioned, engaged, and concerned Sea Point residents, businesspeople, chairpersons of the rate-payers association, neighbourhood watches, law enforcement, social workers, and city officials have increasingly found themselves the targets of unlawful, slanderous, and inflammatory narratives simply for speaking their minds, telling the truth, and suggesting new, workable solutions for dealing with the complicated social problems facing the area.

We have been viciously attacked by rabid ideologues whose demagoguery has known no limit. Those demagogues have appealed to the socially acceptable discrimination against older white males and men in general to shut down legitimate concerns and hide the truth. Both Paul and anyone else who has dared speak the truth about the accelerating decay and lawlessness on the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl, have been defamed with disgusting and baseless slurs such as racist, misogynist, and white supremacist. It cannot be the case that Paul or any other concerned citizen is automatically wrong based on their age, the colour of their skin, or their gender, and yet that is exactly what has transpired while the community rots around us.

Paul understands that not every person or resident has the time or ambition to fight these matters, especially in the courts, but with respect, if your activism or vocal support is not a possibility, then your financial support will go a long way to sustain the fight.

Let him fight on our behalf for a better Atlantic Seaboard and City for all.

If you can help financially and you are willing to do so, then thank you. If not, that’s okay; no one should feel obligated. If all you can do is share this appeal and voice your support for the efforts that he and others are putting in to save our community, then I thank you too.

Rest assured, that my appeal to you, is not to reap profit or make a business venture out of this.

In the event that there are surplus funds available, after our court matters, these funds will be deposited into our Concerned Residents Legal Fund, held in trust, which will ultimately be used to ensure that our bylaws are enforced by the officials and that provision is made for our destitute and vulnerable.
