We know that there was an earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude, 27km NorthEast of the Donggala on September 28, 2018, which shook the Donggala region, Palu and surrounding areas, resulting in a TSUNAMI that befell many of our brothers there. As seen from the videos that have been circulating, the condition there have been so devastated.
I took an initiative to start a campaign by myself, be a fundraiser to collect as many donations as I could, then I will distribute the help directly to Palu, Central Sulawesi. All of this was triggered by the presence of my own family and friends in Palu during the earthquake and tsunami on 28 September 2018. At that time none of the friends and family in Palu were contacted, until finally 2 days later they started giving news that they are in good and safe.
My friend told me that THE CONDITION IS TERRIFYING AND UNCONDUCIVE. A lot of thief looting many kinds of stuff left in the Mall or damaged buildings, bad vehicles access, bad telecommunication access and the daily needs kinds of stuff are out of stock. I will keep in contact with my friends and family to get the latest update regarding any information in Palu.
Aftershocks are feared to occur in the surrounding area. Until now, the media still informs that residents are expected to leave their homes.
My very best friend, Amri, have just been blessed with a child who was not up to 4 months old. He admitted that it was very difficult for him personally get the daily needs. I finally able to communicate with him and he told me how difficult it was to find a toddler's needs.
To get any goods/ food, at least he must start entering the posts and wait for help, while in his house area, people have started to flee to Makassar and Manado. It’s made him hard to move because he is constrained by fuel that is no longer owned. He told that he is running out of stock, could not possibly make his children's needs last, because he did not prepare something like milk, pampers, diapers that were more in his house before.
The amount of news spread about looting and crime makes him more hesitant and afraid to leave without a vehicle alone and leave his child and wife at home. I feel very sad because we know that toddlers are very susceptible to disease, while the current condition in Palu is super terrible for toddlers. At least they have get an adequate facility, food and clean water, and sterile clothes. Sometimes he feels sad remembering his condition now and seeing his child crying.
As far as the information I received, they are still resigned and hope to get help channels from their closest friends to be able to cover their daily needs. I was very worried, his feelings that had just become a father and then unexpectedly had to face severe trials for his family.
I personally cannot imagine the feelings of many families there. I am sure that in Palu there must be many who have similar stories, maybe there are even more difficult ones. This really triggered me to move quickly to find funds from Jakarta and can directly help local friends and residents who need help, especially toddlers.
This fundraising is purely aimed to help anyone in Central Sulawesi, by providing direct assistance, channeling funds to the Foundation / Organization that is engaged in providing assistance in Central Sulawesi
