Campaign Story
Growing up, my friends and I had a very strong passion for football. That is why at age 16, we started our own football club, joining a competitive league in Kuala Lumpur. With the team expanding quickly, we soon made significant additions to the team, most notably being Awurumibe Edwin Ozoemenam, also known as Ozil. Throughout the past year, Ozil has been an important figure in the team. He has been a father figure to many of the players, and has personally been someone who I can call a brother and a friend. Last week, Ozil was unfortunately diagnosed with appendicitis, and requires financial support for his surgery. Having migrated from Nigeria at a young age to pursue a career in football, and without health insurance after being released from his professional team after Malaysian regulatory changes against foreign players during the pandemic, there are financial barriers that have been difficult to overcome. I sincerely request that everyone that sees this can provide help to someone that is truly a man of dignity and love, and someone who has contributed so much to many peoples' lives, including many teenagers who have benefited from playing with and learning from him.
