As many of you know back in December Owen broke his arm in a Muaythai fight in Koh Samui. Although the onsite doctor said it was not broken Owen agreed for us to take him to the hospital where we discovered he had broken his Ulna (a bone that runs from his elbow to his wrist). Owen had several x-rays at the government hospital in Nathon, Samui and his arm was put in a cast.
-Fast forward 3 months and Owens cast was removed. However his arm did not heal well. Owens arm is bowed and he experiences great pain in his elbow and tingling down his whole arm. It has now been almost two months since his cast was removed and he is still in a great deal of pain. He is unable to work as he can not hold pads. Owen is very frustrated and desperately wants to be able to work, and teach again.
Owen is now in France visiting his girlfriend and her family. Her family have very kindly taken him to see a bone specialist who has confirmed that his arm is in fact still broken and the bone has not joined together.
The surgeon has said that the best chance for him to regain use of his arm and work again is to have an operation where they will fully break his arm, then take marrow from his hip and inject it in to his arm to help bind the bones then finally they will insert a metal plate. The surgery however is expensive and Owen could never pay for it himself.
This is where we are asking for your help to raise money towards his surgery in France and also to cover the costs of after care and sports physiotherapy upon his return to Thailand. Without this surgery Owen has little chance of being able to return to work as a trainer again without causing further damage to himself.
