Campaign Story
Our Yaya (nanny), Caridad Docot, who is from Sorsogon Bicol, tested positive for COVID. She was admitted in Gubat District Hospital on 16 June 2021. After 2 days, she had to be transferred to Metrohealth Private Hospital, a private hospital, as the district hospital does not have enough oxygen supply. She immediately underwent xray procedure upon arrival.
- Her left lung is not looking good. As per the doctor, either covid infection or water in lungs. She's now under observation if her lungs has water.
- Doctors has diagnosed her as critical condition.
- She now has catheter to help her urinate.
- Due to the result of her lung x-ray, doctor has advised for her to be in feeding tube to avoid for her to choke on food or have any blockage of airways.
- Her BP shoot up to 200/130. We believe it is because of the stress of all the medical procedures that the doctors are doing. She is alone in the hospital. We do however constantly contact her nurse for updates, and we try to calm her down as best as we could. She was prescribed medication for her high BP and so far, it has worked and now down to 130.
- Normal oxygen is between 95%-100%. She went as low as 71%. On June 19, her O2 saturation was 96, but with 15lpm. She is dependent on the tank, but it is not enough to give her the right supply she needs.
- To avoid being intubated, doctors had advised for her to undergo hemoperfusion to clean the infected blood. The procedure must be done 3x (which costs Php65k each), and with 2 vials of Remdesivir per session (which costs Php8,200 each). Her procedure for 3 days costs Php81,400 per day. That is on top of the running hospital bills.
Our Yaya is in her 80s. She started working for us ever since the 1980s until she retired. She took care of all 4 of us siblings since we were babies. She did not have a family of her own as she focused her life in caring for us. She was selfless and considered us her children. She was with us during our first days of schools, she would wait in cafeterias so on lunch time, food would be ready for us. She rarely took a day off working because we are her family. She is very religious and encouraged us to go to church every Sunday and to pray at night. She was with my sister when she first had her epileptic seizures. She rushed me to a local clinic when I was 3 years old when I tripped and had an open wound on my forehead. Her birthday is on 25 December, and she was literally God's gift to us. She is our living guardian angel.
She is having a hard time now but if these procedures will help her survive, we are not having any second thoughts about going through it. We are humbly asking for financial assistance to help her beat covid. 😞 Our Yaya means so much to us. She is super scared at the moment. 😞
