Thank you so much for visiting our fundraising page!
Our beautiful mum, Debbie, was diagnosed with MS when she was 20 and has been suffering with it for over 30 years now. When she was first diagnosed, she was told that there would be a cure within 5-10 years. And yet, all this time later, she is still waiting. The most mundane of tasks that most of us take for granted, possibly even whinge about having to do, she finds an impossibility. Popping to the shop to get bread and milk. Taking the dog for a walk. Cooking a meal. All normal, everyday tasks that she's unable to manage. Can you imagine how it feels to have trouble cutting up your own dinner? Or sign a cheque? To have your body riddled with painful muscle spasms every time you made the smallest movement? These are a reality our Mum has to face every minute of every day, along with several dozen others that most other people wouldn't even think twice about. We've grown up watching this amazing, selfless woman, who has done so much for us over the years, slowly deteriorate and have been unable to do anything to stop it, and that has proven to be more than a little difficult to deal with.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel because she has been accepted for Stem Cell treatment with Dr Steven Ray at a clinic in Harley Street, London. Details of the treatment can be found by following the link below . Though it is not a cure, it provides the possibility to repair damage that Multiple Sclerosis has inflicted on Mum's brain and nerves and a significant improvement to her quality of life, and we know how much even the smallest of improvements would mean to her. This treatment comes at a cost of just over £32,000 ($40,000) and we would be so grateful for any help and donations we can get.
Anyone who has met our mum know she is a warm, loving, incredible lady with a heart of gold and we want to give her her life back. Since she was diagnosed, she has raised 4 kids and we are all so grateful for what she has given us. Mum has been in a wheelchair for over 10 years now but has never given up hope and has always stayed a happy, positive person. So please, please help us to make this hope a reality for her. She so deserves it!
