Campaign Story
Last January 14 around 6PM, me and my father, rushed mama to St. Luke's Q.C. due to abrupt and intense pain that radiates in the center of the upper abdomen as per mama. There, she undergone several tests like, CBC, Xray, CT scan and was on IV pain killer. It was found out in the result of her CT Scan that she had pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) and early stage of pneumonia. Moreover, she still felt intense pain in her upper abdomen even though she was on an IV pain killer that time. Because of these, we were advised that my mother will have to stay and confined in the hospital for further assessment.
The following day of confinement, we were informed that my mother should have to be transferred to Progessive Care Unit (PCU) for close monitoring since her respiratory, cardiovascular and renal organs show signs of deterioration as shown on her lab test results. Me, together with my other siblings were already have plans of transferring our mother To other hospital (PGH) but hearing from the doctors that mama was in critical condition, any delay from that moment would risk my mother's life. So we decided to let her stayed in a tertiary hospital for proper medical treatment and intervention.
Because no further amount of pain killer can control or lessen her sufferings, we were also referred to a Pain Management Doctor to add on the team of Specialists (Pulmonologist, Cardiologist, Nephrologist and Gastroenterologist) that were constantly monitoring mama's condition.
Currently, she was still on Progessive Care Unit at St. Lukes Q.C. Her HMO coverage was already depleted since day 2 of confinement and our hospital bill is raging up high. My father is now 62 years old and was already retired from work. Me and my other siblings have a regular day job earning just a decent amount of money.
Many recommendations have been made regarding mama's severe acute pancreatitis management and its complications. According to the doctor, in the majority cases, sterile necrosis should be managed conservatively, whereas in infected necrotizing pancreatitis, the infected non-vital solid tissue should be removed to control the sepsis and this will require a lot of money.
It was at this point, that we realized we needed help from the community.
Our family would be grateful if you will donate to help save our mother, Cynthia Carandang's life from the grip of this fatal but curable illness. We want our mother to know how many people there are in the world who are ready to help a stranger in need. She is a loving, generous, pure-hearted and caring mom who deserves to make a difference in the world. You could be of the people that help her live, please do so.
