Help our friend Marieniel Esmani beat cancer!

Hi everyone,

I’m Hannah Manaligod and together with a group of highschool friends we are raising this fundraiser on behalf of our dear friend Marieniel Esmani.

Last August 11, Marieniel—Mannel as we fondly call her—was admitted at St. Lukes Medical Center, Quezon City as her doctor found mass growth on her liver and spleen as well as a chest infection that has not been responsive to antibiotic medications. She has been complaining of cough and chest pains for the past three months which gravely affected her breathing.

During the first week of her stay, they found out that both of her lungs had pleural effusion which had to be drained and tested.

Through a series of tests, she was diagnosed by her doctors at St. Lukes to have High Grade B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with Compartmentalizing Fibrosis. However, they could not progress to a PET scan due her non-stop coughing which prevents the doctors from determining the current stage of her lymphoma. She has also begun to have irregular heartbeats.

At present, Mannel has to undergo another round of bone marrow aspiration, Thoracentesis, Periocardiocentesis, and a PET scan before a series of chemotherapy treatments.

Unfortunately, her ongoing procedures and extended hospital stay minus doctors fees and actual drug treatment is currently at Php 505,081.82 ($ 9805.66) and the cost increases by the day which her family could barely shoulder.

She will also be treated with Rituximab which would cost around 100,000 ($ 1941.40) per session. The number of sessions are yet to be determined.

We, her friends, are doing everything we can to help Mannel’s family cover the cost of her hospitalization and drug treatment. From asking financial assistance from former school mates and friends to looking for government programs that will help subsidize costs, we are looking at every possibility available to enable her to get the treatment she needs.

Mannel continues to bravely face her condition for the sake of her son who is in the 7th grade. Her determination to live has been our beacon of hope to this whole ordeal and we are determined to help her in anyway we can.

For this reason, we are asking for your help in helping us cover the costs of her hospitalization. Even if you cannot help financially but have knowledge of managing lymphoma as well as charities or groups—in the Philippines or in other countries—that would be of help to her, please let us know.
