Help our Filipino domestic helper in desperate need at this time

Thank you for reading this page. Our loyal and hard-working domestic helper, Minnie, a mother to a beautiful daughter, has recently got into deep financial difficulty.

First of all, she is in desperate need of an operation for two separate issues which are currently causing her much pain. She has myoma, a benign tumour on the muscle cells of the wall of the uterus, which can bleed and may eventually become infected. She also has a type of hernia which is causing her pain when she walks. Both issues require medical attention as soon as possible.

Secondly, her and her partner are in a very difficult financial situation after being swindled out of PHP 1.3m (approximately HKD 200,000 or USD 26,000) following a bank loan that went wrong. It appears that they lent money to an individual acting as a middleman and guarantor on the loan. However, it seems that this guarantor had no actual control over paying the money back. The ultimate recipient of the loan has now spent all the money and the guarantor is unable and unwilling to repay the loan. Minnie therefore needs to get a lawyer to contest this as soon as possible: this amount of money represents almost her entire savings of 8 years of hard work in Hong Kong which she had sent back to her family in the Philippines. This family relies entirely on her savings to survive.

We wish to help her out as much as we can, and I do hope that you can too. Minnie will soon return to the Philippines for her much needed operation, which is estimated to cost HKD 10,000 - HKD 15,000 (USD 1300 - USD 1900).

At the same time, she will hire a lawyer to help contest the loan and gain back as much of her money as possible. This is estimated to cost HKD 8000 - HKD 11,500 (USD 1000 - USD 1500). Of course, there is unfortunately no guarantee that she will win this case or that she will see any of her money again.
