Hello, my name is Michelle, i'm a poor, 21 year old trans woman from Mexico, and I need your help. The people you see in the picture are my brother Erwin and my aunt Alma. He has schizophrenia and a broken arm that has a plate inserted on it, she has diabetes and several of her toes have been removed due to this. They are in desperate need of help, we are a family of four including them and my mother, and due to their disabilities only me and mom can work. Years ago, we could get by, but that has changed ever since we lost our home. We have faced many hardships ever since, going from squatting in abandoned houses to living in shelters and refuges until we saved enough to rent a place, and from then on we have gone from one to another because we always end up kicked due to my mother's ex-husband's harassment, our current landlord has gotten tired of this too and has given us notice that unless we can stop this, she will take the house back, and has given us only a few months to prepare.
The reason why we lost our house, and why we are so in need of having an actual house of our own is due to my father. He is the one that kicked us off the house in the first place. His constant harassment and abuse of us, especially of my mother, has become unbearable. No matter where we go he always threatens us, and his violence is what always ends up kicking us off the places we go to. We would have ran from this town long ago if it wasn't for his threats of taking my brother's custody from her. We know he would only treat him terrible if he did and we can't let that happen. This is why this is so important. We need our own place, so that we don't get kicked and so we can actually live in peace. He can't harass us in our own home. And they won't take my brother away if we actually have a stable house and income. And so he won't hold no power over us anymore.
It has been five years living like this, and our plan was to use an old plot of land that my grandfather left my mom to build a house, but all the work we can find is minimum wage, and between bills and food and the care my aunt and brother need, it's going to take years just to save enough to advance anything, a decade even. What you see in these pictures, is all that we have to show for years of what little wages me and my mom have been able to save. And we just don't have the time and money and the energy to go on like this any more. Even after all this time we had barely enough to build anything and now we are completely out of money and have to find another place to rent soon.
What we are asking for, is the funds to complete this house and pay the taxes we still owe the goverment. All we have is the walls and the foundations and not much else. We need the floor, roof, electricity, plumbing, doors and windows, to finish the walls and we need to pay the people that will help us do all of this as well. Over four years saving up and it costed us almost 70,000 pesos just to build this and pay a part of the taxes and the workers. And it's only about 1/3 of the total work done.
Please, help us get out of this situation, help me and my brother and aunt and my mother to have a place to call home at last, to not have to worry if we're going to get kicked out every other week, to finally breath in ease after all we have gone through. Any amount you donate will do, anything at all, even just telling people about this and sharing it wil help us.
Me and all my family, will appreciate your help very much. Thanks for listening to us.
