HK$16,750Donated So Far
Oscar is my best friend.
I met him as a rescue pup when he was 2 months old. Since then, he's lived with me on Lamma Island, Hong Kong, for the last 9 years, and he gets greeted everywhere he goes. Truth be told, far more people know Oscar's name than my own. He's gotten me through some very hard times, and I would do anything for him.
A few weeks ago, a huge mast cell tumour appeared on his front right shoulder within a matter of days. His leg became a painful hindrance, and he could walk less and less each day. After being referred to an oncologist, my wife and I were presented with the choice of amputation and chemotherapy, or putting him down. The doctor said he had a very high chance of surviving and adapting to three legs if the surgery went ahead, and we agreed.
The surgery has been successful, and he's now in recovery in the animal hospital. I visited him yesterday and he's still weak, but getting stronger.
Unfortunately, vet bills are very expensive. Some absolutely wonderful people in the local community are organising some charity events to assist with paying these bills. They suggested I set up a "Go Get Funding" page to make it easy for people to donate, in addition to having physical collection boxes. Plus, then we can share the page on social media.
I know everyone is fighting their own battles, but if you able to contribute any amount at all, we would be eternally grateful.
If you happen to be living on Lamma Island, the fundraising events coming up are:
1. Saturday August 13th and Sunday August 14th - donation based morning workouts by fountain fitness tel . 96876449 to sign up
2. Sunday August 14th ' bluegrass brunch' at The Beer Shack from 11am
All donations from both events will go towards this fundraiser.
Thanks very much!

Hi everyone, From the bottom of my heart, thanks so much for all the donations, help and support we've received over the last couple of weeks. Not only from the local Lamma community, but also friends far and wide. I'm going to get some photos together showing how quickly he's. . . . .
