Hi everyone.

Meet Oliver. He is a 7-month old ragdoll kitten who just got rehomed with us 3 months ago. He was diagnosed with FIP Wet type.

I noticed that he is not too playful and would sleep and lie the whole day. He also preferred to be alone and shoo my other kittens when they invite him for play. We were thinking, as we conversed with the cattery, that it was probably because of stress from rehoming. He was eating and not moving around the house so his big tummy was probably due to a lack of exercise or because he just needs probiotics or deworming.

At the same time, he developed flu and it really took weeks for him to recover. We went to the vet and gave him meds. His tummy was noticeably abnormally large. The vet drained some of his fluids and was given diuretics to manage his abdominal effusions. We were told that the fluid is a symptom of a serious condition, more serious than the flu, but there is no cure available and we only need to give him immune boosters, vitamins, and supplements so he would live (a little) longer or even recover.

It was really a moment of confusion, sadness, frustration like I want to fight for Oliver but I don't know what or who is the enemy that we should fight so that Oliver will be healthy.

I researched and learned that ragdoll kittens are prone to have FIP and that FIP is deadly. This time, I went to another vet, really looked for a clinic that had experience in handling FIP cat patients. They did blood work, ultrasound, and Rivalta test, and it was confirmed that Oliver really has FIP Wet type- all this time.

Did more research online...and I became a member of FIP Warriors 5.0 and FIP Warriors- Philippine groups on Facebook. There, I finally had access to a possible cure for FIP and got to meet admins who are really empathetic, supportive and informative. We got access to an available cure for FIP and we need to administer it to him for 84 days.

Daily, we are injecting Oliver of GS-441524 depending on his daily weight. Each vial costs around 80-95 dollars. We already started the medication but the expenses are too high. Aside from his medicine, we also need to allot budget for his food, vitamins, supplements and other needs.

At the same time, I also foster kittens and still looking for kind hearted individuals who would adopt them. They also need resources to grow healthy and far from being sick. I am running out of funds and being financially challenged right now.

I could only knock on your doors with the hope that you could give us a little help. Please help Oliver win his fight against FIP. I don't want to give up on him, that is why I'm doing this too. Thank you so much.
