Hello, my name isDavis and I am fundraising for someone I love very dearly, my friend Nora. She is a third-year student at Earlham College pursuing a bachelors in Biology and a masters in Education. Earlham offers a program under which students can complete both of these degrees in 4 years, at a discounted price. Nora has relied on loans and the contributions of family members to pay for college, and is almost totally financially independent. This is the reason she chose the discounted program. She hopes to use her degrees to teach science to under-served middle school students in low income Maine schools. Working in this area will also help her to receive debt forgiveness from the federal government. Nora has made these decisions, among others, to save money and allow her to finish her education.

Nora's plans changed during the fall of 2021, however. She suffered from financial abuse when the man paying for her education at Earlham lied about his contributions to her tuition. He was, in fact, not paying at all. Months later, he has yet to pay any of the $10,400 which was promised to her. This left her stranded at school without financial support, and she was forced to empty her savings account to complete the semester. She worked tirelessly with faculty and administration to organize support for her education, but found minimal leniency with the school's accounting department—despite her phenomenal GPA and instrumental work with the campus radio station and museum. She is now taking community college courses at her home in Maine.

Please consider donating to this fundraiser to support Nora's return to Earlham. She cannot complete either of her degrees if she does not return, despite the years of hard work she has put into her education. She will be a beacon of light for Maine schoolchildren if she is able to complete her degrees, graduating in the spring of 2023.
