Campaign Story
Hello, this is Niña Manansala.
Late of September 2019, I experienced severe bleeding and was immediately checked by my Ob-Gyne. On October 25th, I underwent a surgery and after the biopsy, it was found out to be Endometrial Adenocarcinoma and was recommended to undergo Extrafascial Hysterectomy.
It was a very depressing time for me and I even tried to delay my operation since I know that I will never be able to bear a child once the surgery is done. After weeks of decision making, I finally agreed to go with the surgery.
November 19, 2019, I underwent Extrafascial Hysterectomy. Both uterus and ovaries were taken out. Per my OB, the need to take out both ovaries was due to my family’s cancer history. Just last December 2018, my mother was diagnosed and underwent the same surgery for the same type of cancer.
After the surgery, my doctors wanted me to take additional laboratory tests as there was a confusion on which type of Cancer I have. The Pathologist was declaring Cervical cancer while the Ob-Oncologist sees Endometrial. I had to check for hospitals with cheap laboratory tests as my health card already reached it’s limit. I had to cash out for the laboratory tests. I went to the Philippine General Hospital to get the lab tests done as this hospital has the cheapest. I patiently waited in line, went back and forth for schedules. After several tests, it was confirmed to be Endometrial Cancer Stage 3 type C1. My Oncologist prepped me for 2D Radiation therapy and requested for another ultrasound test to make sure all is fine before the radiation therapy. They found a lymph node on my pelvic area and my Oncologist suggested to undergo CT scan or PET scan. These laboratory tests cost around 30,000-50,000 PHP (600-1000 USD). This step is crucial because if the node is found out to be positive, I will have to undergo Chemotherapy. Should it be tested out as negative, I will only undergo Radiation treatment.
All of these tests (CT scan / PET scan), possible Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy would cost me around 100,000 - 200,000 PHP (around 2,000 - 4,000 USD). As of writing, my healthcard has already reached it’s limit and I am struggling to come up with funds to support the tests and therapy I need to undergo.
I am humbly knocking on your generous hearts for financial assistance for my battle against Endometrial Cancer (Stage 3 Type C1)
This is a very challenging time for me knowing that I am ill and that this illness took away my chance of being a mother.
I, together with my family, pray for your good and compassionate heart to spare blessings and grace to help me get the treatment I need. Thank you and may our Lord bless you back 1000 fold for your good deed.
