Nikki is now home. Thank you for all your prayers and help. We continue to knock on your kind hearts for any amount of help. Nikki still needs to complete 24,sessions of cardiac rehab amounting to approximately $720. On top of this, Nikki’s maintenance medications cost close to $850 a month. Nikki’s last two confinements already cost a total of $22,000, aside from her chemo and two previous operations, totaling nearly $35,000. This last month’s incidents have depleted our family’health fund

Nikki is much stronger now. Her appetite is back. She has been doing cardiac rehab for 2 days now. Another blood test will be done tomorrow to check albumin, potassium and creatinine levels. There’s still fluid in her right lung, but diuretics are being given to flush it out.

Nikki was given discharge orders yesterday, but was put on hold including her cardiac rehab because she was too weak (until now). She is currently undergoing ultrasound of her lungs because her X-ray yesterday revealed fluid in the lungs again.

Nikki is now in a non telemetry room and started her cardio rehab last Friday. She is much stronger and is now able to walk around the room and able to walk to the restroom all by her self. Thank you for all your support and prayers! We hope to go home soon.

On May 27, 2017, Nikki underwent a procedure at 9 am where Interventional Radiologists removed fluids from both her lungs. They removed 800 cc from her right lung and 150 cc from her left lung. These were sent out for biopsy. Initial findings showed that the fluids were caused by her congestive heart failure. We have yet to receive the results of the biopsy. On May 30, Nikki was able to get up and transfer and sit up on a lazy boy. Yesterday, May 31, 2017, just right before lunch time, Nikki was transferred to a regular room. We thank the our all for your prayers and donations. We continue to ask for more prayers for Nikki that she may continue to get better and fight LMS and not let congestive heart failure limit what she can do in life. We also continue to ask for financial assistance of any amount to help also sustain post palliative care. We are and always will be forever grateful to all of you.

Nikki’s potassium level dropped to 3.3 last night. Medical staff here at St. Luke’s tried to correct this through IV. But Nikki was in grave pain so IV was stopped and given oral medications instead. This morning, the resident cardio at CCU confirmed that her potassium has gone up to 4.1, and is back at normal level for a cardio patient. This morning her cardio recommended that Nikki be put on ICD - Implantable cardioverter defibillatot asap. However, this afternoon she had fever due to an infection. They are now treating the infection first. Then ICD will be scheduled.

Nikki was transferred to the CCU around 1:30 am to 2 am this morning. Nikki is currently being given diuretics to relieve her of swelling in her upper and lower extremities, while the doctors also try to keep her blood pressure from dropping. Her O2 level is now stable with the aide of oxygen support. Please keep praying for her speedy recovery. Nikki has endured so much already. We just want her to get well soon.

We were supposed to be discharged today, but Nikki’s blood pressure dropped to 70/40 again and has diarrhea. So we are staying out here in the hospital until further notice. Please continue to pray for Nikki.
