Just want to give some update. We spoke to Dr. and he does not feel comfortable doing the operation without we having roughly R300,000+. As the doc foresee some complications and Nico will most probably need more time in ICU & High Care.

As I sit here today my heart is broken, my life is desperate, my father (48 years old) is terminally ill with stage 4 cancer and I no longer know who to turn to. I have decided to turn to you for help.

On 6 October 2019, we received the terrible news that my father, Nico Venter, had been diagnosed with stage 4 malignant melanoma.

All his life my father had been an adventurer, working in the sun in many parts of the northern part of South Africa.

Nico’s sad journey started in Polokwane with his GP and a local surgeon and soon progressed to an oncologist at the Eugene Marais hospital and ended up at the Mary Potter oncology hospital in Pretoria, Groenkloof.

I am grateful to all the doctors who have helped Nico so far but the Keytruda® clinical trial they managed to get him onto, did not work for his BRAF negative melanoma cancer, and, because he does not have medical aid, he has run out of options. The Doctor at Mary Potter oncology hospital has declared him unfit for physical work.

He has 2 huge tumours, one in the gland under his left arm and one in his spleen. For him to have any chance to see his grandchildren grow up we need to raise the money to have the tumours irradiated or removed (~R120 000) and we need to afford the chemotherapy medication (Tamoxol) he needs to take every month after that (~R10,000 pm).

I am asking you if you can find it in your heart to donate to his cause so we can try and save him.

He is so much loved by his family and friends and everyone who knows him. He is the kindest, funniest and proudest person I know and we love him so much. Covid-19 has not helped either as his family is in dire straits and cannot afford his treatment without your kind and much-needed donation.
