Help needed for Thailand village school

Update posted by Alan Sullivan On Sep 07, 2019

Hello Friends,

Just a quick update as our campaign has been a little quiet recently. This is largely due to deciding to wait a while to see what items and further support the school needs.

The school constantly appreciate our support and help. They are in awe that people from other parts of Thailand and all over the world have helped them. The headteacher has said that our support and help is often mentioned in the school assemblies to highlight how much people care about others.

The school still needs our help, and at the present time our thoughts are turning towards the annual problem the school has of providing school polo shirts to each pupil. Many families in the local community find it very difficult to afford the school shirts and our donation of school shirts was warmly received last year by the school and the local community. All the items we raised for were fantastic and very much needed and appreciated, but it was the school polo shirts that perhaps had the biggest impact.

I have asked the school to find out the cost of new school polo shirts for each pupil, and I am hoping we will be able to raise funds in the future to help with the purchase of the shirts.

Again, my sincere thanks to all who have supported the school. As has been said many times it is very much appreciated by the school, and the local community.

Any ideas on fundraising, or finding sponsors are most welcome.

Kind regards,

Alan

Hello friends, sponsors and good people.

Firstly an apology that little has happened recently. This is largely because I felt the campaign needed some time to look at options and priorities for the fundraising campaign.

So far our campaign has been great. Many people have been very generous in their support for the school.

The school are more than appreciative of the support we have given them. The items we have raised money for have been put to good use and the school was overwhelmed that people from different parts of Thailand, and other parts of the world have helped them. That is a wonderful message to send to the children, and the local community .

Of course there are still many items we would like to raise funds for and we will continue to try to raise funds.

The school feels very fortunate to have had such help and support and has asked if we can look at the possibility of helping a different school local to them. We will look at that possibility and if we can we will help.

On a personal note I would like to thank all who have helped with this campaign. Friends from all over the world and some I have not seen for over 40 years have donated to our campaign. Every one of you is a star !

If you have any ideas, or possible new sponsors please let me know and tell people about our campaign. It would be fantastic if we can continue to help schools who very much need our help.

Last week we visited Ban Nayong School to take further items for the school, and what a fantastic day it was. I kept wishing every one of the people who have donated to the school could have been there with us.

Bev, Chris ( from Wales) Allen ( photography) Andrew ( transport) Duang, Noi and myself were made to feel very welcome.

We were welcomed by the headteacher, Staff, Director and children.

We were formally welcomed in the Thai language and also in English.

We presented the school with wall fans, dinner trays, A4 paper, footballs, pencils, and cash to purchase polo shirts, and a new tyre for the school bus.

A group of dancers performed several dances. Each dance represented aspects of the history and culture of the school and the local community. The performances were excellent.

After the dance performances individual children gave each of us thank you cards . Beautifully decorated and with individual messages of thanks for our help to the school.

We then had a tour of the school including seeing classrooms , a museum, a working loom and a hand built house which took over 2.years to build.

An amazing, Interesting and Emotional day. It was a privilege to be there.

The staff and children have asked me to pass on their sincere thanks to all who have helped the school. They were overwhelmed that people from different parts of the world have helped the school.

I would like to add my personal thanks to Pin, Duang, Noi, Allen, Andrew, and everyone who has helped the school so far.

We will continue to raise funds for the school and please share this with anyone else who may help as there is still much more we hope to do to help the
