Help needed – Family insolvency and oral cancer the same time – Financial and medical crisis

Me, Andras (39) and wife Sophie (34) are an average middle-class couple, state officer and graphic designer, still before children.

We had a very nice flat in Hungary's capital Budapest, yet in a polluted and noisy neighbourhood. We tried to sell it to buy a small house in the suburbs, a better place for our future children.

One day in March 2017, some Asiatic people called and give a good price for our flat. In the Hungarian law, if one signs a contract to buy a flat, has to pay a 10% advance payment of the final price. According to the law, if one cannot pay the full price, loses the 10%, with the exception if it wasn't his/her fault.

As our buyers were foreigners, outside the European Union, they also had to get a permission from higher offices for buying the flat. The lawyers said the buyers will surely get the permission, although it was based on outer circumstances.

Some weeks later we found the suburbian house of our dreams, and also paid the 10% advance payment. It was the same price, about 16.000 USD (4.700.000 Hungarian Forints). We were happy and waited for the full payment from the Asian buyers.

Some days before the deadline to the payment, the lawyer called that the buyer's permission wasn't given and thus we have to pay their advance payment back, as it was outside their fault. This way we had to pay back and we couldn't pay for the chosen house, too. We lost the 16.000 USD equivalent of money which was our last saving. The biggest financial failure we ever had in life. This is not the amount of money we can easily replace; we literally lost the hope for bulding a happy family and background for our future children.

Due to the situation, I felt quite sick and lost almost 20 pounds in some weeks. I visited the doctor and a white ulcer was found in my mouth. These days I'm waiting for the biopsy but all doctors said it's quite possible I have cancer in mouth (carcinoma buccae), that is one of the worse forms. I couldn't go back to work in the last weeks, due to weakness and medical examinations.

As it's said "trouble doesn't work alone" and after the events, our whole life seems to be ruined, not because the flat but the financial loss and medical situation.

We kindly ask anybody who has empathy for our situation to donate us some dollars that can pull us from this financial bankruptcy and building new savings for the medical costs.
