We hope you and your family are safe and healthy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. We know this is a difficult time for everyone of us, but we can't do this alone, and so we are humbly asking for your help.

Last February 2021, my 58-year-old uncle, Redentor Tayag, noticed traces of blood in his excrement. This bleeding occurred a few times, but due to the COVID pandemic and extreme lockdown implementations, he was not able to consult a specialist immediately. In April, the condition has suddenly taken a turn for the worse. The bleeding has come back, this time with increased frequency and severe pain.

Our family promptly decided for him to consult a doctor, and he was advised to undergo colonoscopy and a series of other medical tests. The tests found a mass in his rectum and the biopsy revealed it to be cancerous. More extensive medical tests were done to learn the extent of his cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage IV rectal cancer which has already metastasized to his liver. My uncle urgently needs to undergo chemotherapy to treat his cancer. He needs to undergo 12 cycles of FOLFOX treatment.

We are humbly knocking on your kind hearts for donations as each cycle of chemo alone already costs Php 47,796. This will have a total cost of Php 573,552.00. In addition, he still needs to undergo surgery after a few sessions of chemo. We will need another large amount of money for the operation and hospitalization, and his medications.

My uncle does not have any work and only relies on the meager allowance his siblings give him for taking care of their mother. He has decided a long time ago to dedicate his life as a caregiver for my grandmother who is also currently hospitalized and has her own medical needs. Our family has been struggling financially since the pandemic started and we know that this time is extremely challenging for a lot of people as well.
