My three-year-old son has been having constant battle with gastrointestinal infections for the past year or so. Clinics and hospitals have never been a strange place for our family. Few weeks prior to his admission at a hospital in our province, we’ve noticed multiple bruises on his body which we thought were just from minor injuries. It wasn’t until he was bitten by a cat when we brought him to the clinic for a check up. They found out that his blood counts were out of whack when the doctor ordered a CBC. His platelet count was 6-16 times lower than normal, which could mean he may bleed out to death if it gets dangerously low. His WBC was almost zero, which means he couldn’t fight infections like normal people do and his hemoglobin was critically low.

The doctor did a bone marrow biopsy, an invasive procedure where he had to drill through his pelvic bone to get a sample of his bone marrow for biopsy. Result came back with Acute myelogenous leukemia. AML is a quickly progressing leukemia in which too many abnormal cells form in the bone marrow crowding healthy blood cells. He is now getting treatment at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center. Without treatment, he was given 3-6 months to live. A few days ago, he has received two bags of chemo which have caused his counts to drop even lower.

Watching him on the hospital bed with so much pain and suffering is almost unbearable. As a parent, I dying inside but I have to remain strong for my son. We do not have medical insurance and I do not have a fixed income.

I am pleading for your generosity. I am not certain that we will be able to afford his next bag of chemo, blood product, or medication that he needs. Any donation will help us get to our goal of successful chemotherapy, radiation and bone marrow transplant. We also need all the prayers we can get.

Thank you for your kindness!

  • My dearest friend Tessa Mae Cale has been sick for years now with no proper diagnosis. She’s been in and out of the hospital and every time, she’s being told/diagnosed with different illness which extremely affects her and her family. She has been recently diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and now needs to undergo Chemotherapy. Despite of the different illnesses she’s been through these past years, Tessa continued to be a happy and bubbly lady that I’ve known her to be. She always try to be optimistic in every situation as she still has so many things she’d like to do. Due to years of repeatedly being admitted to the hospital, Tessa and her family have been financially challenged. They have tried seeking financial help from government agencies but no luck so far. If you could support her by making a donation and then sharing with your network, we would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know any amount would definitely help her with her therapy. Please let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Update posted by Mark Jaesen Blanco Agustin at 03:08 am

Quick update: Our son Kenzo completed his first round of chemo more than a week ago. In addition to an intravenous chemotherapy, his heme-oncologist also gave him intrathecal chemo where they delivered the chemo through a needle in between his two lumbar vertebrae (lower back bones). • Hi. Good day! Sorry for crashing someone’s campaign but I’m hoping you can help us in any possible way since we just created our page. My son has Congenital Heart Disease and he’s only 4 months old. According to his, Pedia Cardiology, he needs to have an open heart surgery before turning one and we’re running out of options and time so we decided to create a campaign to raise funds enough for his surgery. I’m wondering if you can possibly help us by supporting our campaign- Saving Bacon. You can read and see our son’s case in my page. thank you so much.
