I am doing this for my son, Matt Roberts. His lifelong passion has been racing. Racing is in his blood and there is no doubt he was born to be a professional race car driver and champion. I am asking for your help in making his dream come true.
Matt has consistently been a champion in every series he's ever raced, from his start at age ten in flat kart oval racing (photo above), to repeated championships in indoor road course racing at Autobahn Speedway in Manassas and Dulles, VA, while working and going to college.
Very recently, Matt (now 22) was encouraged to apply for the Lucas Oil and Cooper Tires Scholarship Shoot-out, an inaugural program that provides 30 karters from around the world an opportunity to compete in Formula One style race cars for a chance to win a full entry-level professional racing season in 2019 Lucas Oil Championship Series and Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, valued at $100,000.
The good news is that Matt applied and was selected for the 2018 Cooper Tires Karting Scholarship Shoot-out:
Congratulations! After careful consideration, you have been selected to participate in the Cooper Tires Karting Scholarship Shoot-out, December 12-14 at Sebring International Raceway."
- Jim Altemus, Lucas School of Racing
The "bad" news is that Matt (and his dad) need help paying for this opportunity. Your contributions will help fund Matt's expense including the following:
- Mandatory Basic 2-Day program: $3,499
- Cooper Tires Scholarship Shoot-out: $4,999
- Travel expenses (two trips, VA to FL): $2,000
Thank you so much for reading and for your consideration of support!
-- Tim Roberts (aka Dad)
