Hello everyone,
Giang was a motivated student who graduated from the University of
Houston. Unfortunately on Jan. 5th 2016, her educational goals and dream
to attend a dental school could no longer be her top priority after she
was diagnosed with an advanced stage of stomach cancer.
Giang was diagnosed at the West Houston Medical Center then
transferred to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital after a two week stay. Her
unfortunate prognosis ruled her as a poor candidate for most of the
treatment options available. For the past year, she has been undergoing
numerous courses of chemotherapy, ER visits, blood transfusion,
hospitalization, etc. We tried to reach out to other hospitals such as
Memorial Herman, Houston Methodist, and MD Anderson Cancer Center but
these institutions were not able to provide assistance.
Her recent tests showed the tumor has spread to her outer stomach wall,
her liver, and other locations. The doctors at The University of
Maryland Medical Center have suggested an immediate gastrectomy. She is
expected to have surgery in Baltimore to remove her whole stomach and
partial liver on Jan. 18th 2017.
Since her diagnosis, even with the help of health insurance, her medical bills along with other costs have been and are still accumulating. As her situation worsens and hospital visits increase, especially with a major surgical procedure ahead, we anticipate many more expenses to come in the upcoming weeks.
Giang is a cheerful young lady who cherishes the simple things in life and displays love for others around her. During this heartbreaking journey, she has been the epitome of strength. Even as she is in a constant state of pain, Giang still manages to keep her sense of optimism and responsibility. On the days that she is not receiving treatment, she works part time to earn extra income to pay for day to day expenses.
In this unfortunate phase of Giang’s life, we are reaching out for any help we can give her. We appreciate any amount you are able to donate in helping her in this battle against cancer. Please keep her in your prayers and help us spread the word.
