I am a self-supporting undergraduate pursuing BS Industrial Engineering at the University of the Philippines. Since my father has a cardiovascular disease and is no longer fit to work, I have been a self-supporting student. Through the years, I had worked as a market researcher, sales associate, student facilitator of Japanese students, freelance article writer and ESL tutor, student assistant, etc. to get by, help my family and provide for my academic necessities such as food allowance, dorm rent and project expenses. So as my brother, who is in Senior High and is currently working as a fast food crew.
My sister was enrolled in a private school and was not able to transfer to a public school since her records are on hold due to the remaining balance. The condition of the school was that they will accept her this July if by then, we have paid our arrears. I have been working hard as a project-based and part-time employee to earn the fees to settle but my efforts were not enough to get her to school. I was still hoping for her to pursue her studies this year, as she could still take special exams to make up for the first grading that she has missed. My churchmate suggested this website to raise funds for my sister.
She is supposed to be in 6th grade this year and missing school has greatly affected her emotionally. Everyday, she is asking me what day is it. And it breaks my heart to answer her as she will face another day missing school. She really wants to study and she is always making ways to save and earn money. She is quite a fighter as well, she is still trying hard to cheer herself up, get busy studying at home, making arts and crafts, and helping in house chores. This is just one of the massive financial stresses that we are facing at the moment. This is my priority and I will be really grateful to those who will help.
