My sister and I started opening a healthy cafe in Cornelius, NC over a year ago. She has twenty years of restaurant experience, while I have been self employed for eight years. The building process is nearly complete, however a lot of things have happened since then.

First, a bit about us. We have a delicious and healthy restaurant, and with Americans eating out 4-5x a week, having healthy options are important to stay in track. There are nineteen gyms in the city our cafe is in, so the area prioritizes health. The average income f the city is nearly twice that of the state as well. Please give our menu online a look after reading our story, thank you.

These are our issues. Our first contractor never started. Our second contractor, took off with nearly a third of our money and legal proceedings to regain that are wellless than bright. I got really sick for most of two months, and the rest of the reserves were depleted because our building process was still going.

We have a majority of the equipment and furnishings in storage and ready. The main issue is running capital.

We are gracious and caring people. We collaborated with the Community Culinary School of Charlotte to use them in our hiring process. This is a culinary non-profit program aimed at helping their students who have faced barriers in gaining successful employment. Such as those with prior criminal records, lesser felonies, or other barriers which prevent larger companies from hiring them. We’d like to help the community by hiring people who have gone through this program and giving them another chance.

When food is incorrectly made somehow, we have a section of our freezer set up to store those accidentally errored dishes, and donate them to our local shelters.

If you are a local church group looking for a place to have a meeting, come to our place! We honor those seeking the Word by giving religious interest group discounts. We also offer discounts to veterans, and those of retirement age.

We have a business board near the restrooms for local businesses to place their cards as well as promote local things/happenings.

10% of all revenues will be donated to charities. Local charities, Histiocytosis Association and NDI Foundation (Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus), which helps find a cure for diseases my sister has. This is a personal decision based on religious preference and in keeping with the rules set forth by God and his commands to tithe. While there aren’t specifically tithing instructions for businesses, we feel charities would be a good route.

I’m not asking for donations for free. All donators will be met with equal valued gift certificates to eating meals at our cafe in Cornelius, NC.

We aren’t looking to get rich. We have been working in bars for a long time, and have worked really hard to get out of the industry. The cafe is in the Peninsula Village, off of a main road and near the heart of Cornelius. Several issues have prevented us from continuing going forward and soon it won’t be possible. Please help.

Thank you:)

Sincerely,

Meggan
