Hello, my name is Lena and I am trying to raise funds towards some things to help my little girl Amy.

A little about Amy

Amy is my amazingly brave, nearly 8 year old daughter and she is currently going through Topical Steroid Withdrawal also known as Steroid Induced Eczema or Red Skin Syndrome.
When Amy was little she had eczema and we were prescibed topical steroid creams to treat it, we continued to use the creams over a few years and Amy's eczema continued to get worse.  Unfortunatly what the doctor failed to tell us was that the skin can become addicted to the topical steroids within the creams.  Sadly this is the case for Amy and she is now having to go through a long, painful withdrawal from the very thing that was meant to be making her better!
Amy is having to deal with some horrible symptoms, some of which are:
Painful, sore and intensly itchy skin.
Her skin is very dry and tight and has to be mositurised very regularly, in fact in the mornings Amy can't even get out of bed on her own due to her skin being so tight.
Her skin flakes and sheds at an unbelieveable rate.
Her body is unable to controle its own tempreture so she is always cold but she is unable to wear normal clothes to get warm.
Her sleep is broken from the intense itching and even the smallest of things makes her exhausted.
Amy cannot tolerate water so is unable to have a bath and a shower is a painful nightmare.
Her muscles and joints ache and she has lost a lot of weight.
Her immune system is very low, leaving her prone to infections and colds.

Although Amy is having to deal with all these horrible symptoms she is so brave and always ready to share her beautiful smile.  She is now 6 months into her withdrawal and so much better then she was a few months ago when she couldn't even get up but she also still has a long way to go until she is healed.

Amy dreams of having a "normal" life and to be able to do all the "normal" things little girls her age do.
She misses wearing her frilly dresses and playing with her friends.  At the moment Amy is also unable to go to school, something she really can't wait to be able to do again.

We know that Amy's dreams will come true and that she will be able to do all the things she wants to.
Each day is a step nearer to her dreams.
It's very hard as a parent to see your child in so much discomfort and not be able to make it all better.

This is where we need a little bit of help.
We are trying to raise the money for 2 main things to help Amy with her withdrawal, to make life a little bit better for her and to accelerate her healing if possible.

Firstly - We want to purchase a UVB lamp so that we can start light therapy on Amy at home.  I have done a lot of research into the light therapy and read many positive reviews on the healing effects the UVB light therapy can have on those suffering with skin conditions such as Amy's.
The UVB lamps range in price from £150 - £250
The light therapy really could make a difference to Amy's life.  She has already healed so much in the last 6 months but we really feel that this is a step forward to helping her heal further.

and

Secondly - We would like to get Amy some Derma Silk Garments.  These garments are specially designed for people who suffer from skin conditions.  They are a theraputic clothing range that can give comfort, proved an extra layer (so should help with her lack of body tempreture) and they can also be worn under normal clothing so hopefully Amy would be able to wear clothes again.  Amy currently lives in short baggy pj's, she is unable to wear underwear or socks and is therefore pretty much housebound.  We feel that these garments really could make a difference to her life and give her some kind of normality whilst she heals.
Each single item costs approx.
Underwear - £25
Socks - £20
Long Sleeved Vest - £55
Non Sleeved Vest - £53
Leggings - £54
Shorts - £25
Gloves - £18
As you can see these garments are quite expensive, they are completley seemless and designed to be anti-irritant so should be fantastic for Amy.

Any help, even the smalles amount towards raising the money for these items would be so greatfully appreciated.  We know that these things will make so much difference to not only improve Amy's life but also help her to get better.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read and also for any donations made.
Lena
