Help My Horse

Soodles is a 16.3 Irish tb Mare which I rescued as a two year old from a dealer who was sending her for slaughter in the London area of the UK. She arrived with all sorts of problems including malnutrition. Since that time I have nurtured her back to health. However she was always unsound (lame) and I put that down to back problems as she has a pelvic disalignment on the right hand side. Due to this she also has something which has caused pressure on the tendon and now has a lump forming on the inside of the leg,which needs to be removed as well as the op I am rasing money for.

However all this was in vain when we had the leg x rayed and discovered a chipped bone in the stifle joint. which is why I need your help. This problem means that she is in a lot of pain and can't walk very well - for a horse this is a real problem because they can't easily put their head down to eat. I am therefore having to feed her through a hay net or by hand for 4 hours a day. A horse needs to eat in the natural position otherwise it causes respiratory problems which I am now seeing in her. There are more worthy causes out there but animals feel pain and sense things the way humans do. I love animals and I love all my pets and would not feel satisfied if I was not doing all I could for her. She had a very bad start in life and I am determined to do all I can for her. I have spent what little money I managed to save for the x rays and scans and consultancy appointments but I need your help for this operation as I can't save it all myself. I would not be appealing if I had not been told the success rate would be high. I could not afford insurance for her as she was in such a bad state when I got her. no tail,ribs showing,half a mane and bite marks all over her. She also had severe overeach marks round her hoves which were infected and had gone up the leg.

There are two options-

I can have an otherwise healthy horse put down

or

attempt to raise the money needed to sort her leg out and give her a chance of a long and happy life in a very much loving environment.
