Help my get through school!

I was raised in Montreal by a single mother on disability and had to leave school at 16 for full time work to help support us. I returned to adult education and graduated in 2012 and a year later I came to Calgary for better opportunities.

I never saw school as an option for me I had no financially stable family and relied only on myself financially. I worked hard had a stable income, found my place in the community and three years of living in Calgary I bought a house. Things were great!

Then my financial situation took an unexpected down turn. I had worked as a face to face fundraising supervisor for four years and it started to affect me mentally. I started falling into a depression and experiencing high levels if anxiety so I had to leave.

I could not find any work that was as fulfilling as working for charity and thought to myself "It is time to get back into school and get a career in something I love. Hairdressing has always been something I greatly enjoyed. I have always been good at it and love making people happy. I love to bring out a person’s true beauty and help them let their personality shine through. That confidence they get when they look in the mirror means so much to me because I know that in my small way I helped that person be the best version of them self.

Currently I am between jobs looking for the right fit for while I am in school but I still have mortgage payments to keep up with and eventually student loans to pay back and unfortunately no grants are the right fit for me right now. So I come to you the public to seek community support so I can reach my dreams!

I am going to school for Hairdressing in the Aveda program and start in April. I hope to use what I learn in Aveda to not only provide the public with fantastic service and to make them feel as beautiful on the outside as I see them on the inside but to help my clients feel proud about their choices in ethical cosmetics because true beauty starts with compassion!

I wish to make people happy in everything I do and always look for ways to help others who are less fortunate then I am, but this time it is I that need the help and it is not easy for me to admit. This is a very humbling experience for me and any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated and of course will be paid forward!
