As a father and a Kiswahili language teacher for the past 23 years, there’s nothing more important to me than seeing my kids succeed in their education and pursue their professional aspirations. I’ve prided myself on a hard work ethic and resourcefulness that, up until the past year, have enabled me to pave the way for my kids in this regard. But, with the present social and economic climate of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been unable to work since most of my teaching relies on in-person instruction. So, I am turning to crowdsource funding in hopes of supporting my daughter, Mary, to achieve her dreams of higher education and aspirations of becoming a lawyer!

With your help, I’m hoping to raise $1600 to pay for Mary’s first year of study at the Institute of Judicial Administration (please check out the link to learn about this renowned institute). This amount includes the cost of one year of tuition as well as housing.

About Mary

Mary is 17 years old and was born and raised in the coastal city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. From a young age, she has had a heart for public service and professional ambitions of becoming a Lawyer. Mary recently completed her Form 4 schooling in Dar es Salaam and we are extraordinarily honored and humbled that she has been invited to join the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA) – an opportunity afforded to very few young women in Tanzania! Mary has readily accepted her position at IJA as it will assure that she is able to then pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Law and equip her with the specialized skills necessary for future practice as a Lawyer. Eventually, she hopes to use her knowledge of law to fight for the rights of marginalized communities and victims of gender-based violence in Tanzania.

Any financial contribution you’re able to make toward my goal of raising $1600 means so much. Thank you, thank you.
