Campaign Story
Hello Everyone,
How are you holding up these days?
If you’re like us, COVID-19 has thrown a few curveballs. Current events are overwhelming: we hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and are finding comfort despite all that is happening.
A short story about me, I am an OFW working in Singapore; and for the past year since the pandemic started, we’re doing everything possible to sustain our daily needs.
I am organizing this fundraising for a person dear to me/us, my Dad.
My father is working in Laguna, Philippines and is living alone. He goes back home to our hometown every month to visit my mom and sisters.
August 11, 2021, my father went for his first dose of Covid vaccination. The next day he had fever of 38.3 C and his blood pressure was 180/113 mmhg. This has been going on for 4 days with a BP ranging from 148/90 - 180/113 mmhg. My father is a stroke survivor, he have medications to take and diet to follow.
August 16, 2021, my father is still not feeling well. Initially we thought that it was all the vaccination’s fault but no. That day, He was not able to get up and eat. Then he received a message from his colleague saying that he went for swab test with a positive result. With his full strength he also went for a swab test and has to wait for 2 days for the result.
August 17, 2021, we received a message from my father in the morning saying that he couldn’t get up and his throat is painful. After that it was hard to reach him. We all went crazy trying to call and message him.
August 18, 2021, my sister who is having a training in Laguna as well (an hour away from my father’s place) wen to check on him and did an antigen test and it was positive. There and then, my sister decided to stay with my father.
When my sister went to check on my father, he lost a lot of weight. The photo above is a comparison of before and after. it was heartbreaking.
August 19, 2021, my father’s swab test came out positive. My sister had to report to the nearest hospital and community center where they were advised to be quarantined.
Everything from foods and medications were sent via delivery.
My father’s health is far from getting better, he lost so much weight in a matter of days, hospitals in Laguna were out of beds and are not admitting anymore covid patients. Yes, we are still looking for a hospital and deciding on how to travel back to our hometown.
For now, we are trying our best to bring the hospital care to my father’s apartment. We have to purchase everything from the medications and IV drips and eveything that he needs. We hope my father will slowly recover.
With these, we urge everyone to stay safe and healthy as Covid-19 is not a joke. Everyone of us is different, our bodies fight viruses differently, some are mild and some are worse.
While there’s a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, we need you.
Thank you for your support and God Bless us all.
