Campaign Story
Hi! I’m Arvin and I am writing to seek for your help to support the chemotherapy sessions for my aunt, Maria Teresa Ramirez. She is only 52 years young, strong, and is a very caring mother, friend, and sister. She still has a whole life ahead of her, and were really sad that this has been affected by her cancer diagnosis.
Last April 11, 2020 she began experiencing acidity, upset stomach, and nausea. Due to covid restrictions in the hospital, Doctors would just prescribe her medication to treat the acidity (omeprazole). She continued experiencing this and treating it with Omeprazole until she had another clinic check-up on October 2021- wherein she had been experiencing constipation for about 2 weeks already. From November to December of 2021, she visited the Out-Patient Department of Government Hospital for her constipation and she was given a laxative to promote bowel movement.
This continued until January to March of 2022, where she also experienced blood in her stool. For 2 months she was seeking for the right diagnosis, and on June she finally met with an OB Gyne to get checked. On July 16, she was ordered to have a full abdomen ultrasound and they saw something which resulted for her to get a Gynecology Transvaginal Ultrasound, and on August 13, they found a solid mass at the back of her uterus.
The OB Gyne endorsed her to a Gyne Oncologist for further examination. And on August 19, she underwent a CT Scan but they were not able to see much of the solid mass. She was then referred to a General Surgeon to undergo a Protosigmoidoscopy and a biopsy.
On September 8 we received bad news that the findings were Adenocarcinoma Rectal Mass, she has Stage 4A Colorectal Cancer. It was a tough day for us, we were all saddened and struck by this. Because of the findings she was referred to a Colorectal surgeon, because the tumor was already 7-8cm, and she is having a hard time eliminating her waste.
On September 24 she was confined at the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) to have her Colostomy operation. During her stay in RMC she underwent a CT Scan and a Pelvic MRI. She was referred to a Urologist, and the findings were; kidney stones and uric acid. On October 25, she met with a Medical Oncologist at Cabrini Medical Center and had her first session of Chemo last November 3.
She chose to be out-patient, her treatment would take 8-12 months depending on the results of the chemo treatment, she is scheduled to have her Chemo once a month and oral medications will be taken as well. We are hoping for positive results and a shrunken tumor after her chemotherapy sessions.
The expenses have exceeded what we can afford and we would like to seek for your assistance to continuously provide the medication and chemotherapy for my Aunt.
We truly appreciate any support you can share with us, with this we will be able to schedule her chemotherapy sessions, purchase her medications religiously, and provide her with the care she truly needs and deserves.
