Hi, my name is Jeanne Werner and I am writing you today because someone very dear to me has been severely injured and needs your help.

Monica Casey is someone who isn't afraid to share her love. You can always count on her to be your friend, no matter how well she knows you, how you look, where you come from, or what your history is. She believes in doing the right thing, being kind to all, and trusting in her faith more than anything. She's unapologically confident and outspoken, incredibly hardworking, and always looking out for the people in her life. You could ask anyone what her impact has been on them and they'd tell you without hesitation that Monica has changed their lives for the better.

Last night, Monica was entering a crosswalk across the street from her campus when she was struck at full speed by a inattentive driver who sped away after the incident. She was on her way back from checking this week's schedule for her new job, which she attained to help pay for a private loan she took out for her studies. After she was struck, a bystander on the scene rushed to her side to help her to safety, calling 911.

Monica just started her freshman year of college at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, so her parents, Katie and Chris, who live in Madison, WI, were about 1,600 miles away from her. Though financially burdening, Katie was able to book an expensive one-way redeye to Arizona within a few hours, not knowing when she might be able to come home.

Though Monica is currently stable in the ICU at JC Lincoln Hospital, she faces many injuries and medical issues that will take many months to recover from. Her left leg is broken in several places, including her tibia and femur, her left ankle is shattered and her pelvic bone has a t-line fracture. She had two surgeries this moring to place steel rods in her leg, and has three other surgeries scheduled for later this week.

They hope to start recovery next week, but until Monica can get around on her own, she'll be living at the hospital with her mom or dad (who are taking turns staying with her).

We are so lucky that she is alive and now on the upturn, but these next several months are going to be mental, physical and financial hardships for her and the Casey family.

I do ask if you would donate anything, even just a few dollars if that's all you can give, to help with the following:

- Travel expenses for Katie and Chris to fly to and from Madison, WI to stay with Monica

- Living/transportation expenses for Katie and Chris in eat, stay in hotels, rent cars, etc. while in Phoenix

- Medical necessities for Monica to be able to comfortably get around campus and attend classes this year

Any funds that exceed the goal will go towards Monica's education and hospital expenses.

If you are not in a place where you can give, please share this Gogetfunding page with as many people as possible, and encourage your friends to do so as well.

Monica and her family needs all and any help they can receive. They didn't ask me to set this up, but they give so much to the people around them, that it's the least I could do.

Thank you for reading, donating, and sharing.
