Good day

I am here to request help for my mom today Rita van der Merwe. She is living with a serious back/nerve injury which is making her life a living hell.

She has difficulty walking and is en excrutiating pain most to all of the time. She has gone to a state hospital a few times already but was just told that they won't be able to rectify the problem and the best they can give her is pain medication. This injury has already reached to such an extend that if she sits and has to stand or walk she has to stand up and stay in standing position quiet for anything from 5 to 10 min just so her muscles could relax enough for her to be able to move her legs. She and my dad are both pensioners and even though dad is working for an extra income till some very late nights it is still not enough for them to afford a hospital plan or even a medical aid to cover this medical care my mom needs. We are also not really in a position to assist as my own husband has been looking for work for the past two years after being retrenched from his company.

I am requesting help today just to be able to get the necessary funds to be able to pay for an operation for mom so she could have a normal pain free life again.

Every little bit could help so we can get her to that healing road ahead. Thank you so much for hearing my story.

(Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one bone of the spinal column (vertebra) slips forward over another. This is caused by a deformity or weakening in part of a vertebra.

This condition results in a misalignment of the vertebrae. In some instances, this may lead to spinal cord or nerve root compression, back pain, and numbness or weakness in the legs.

Certain types of athletes (particularly weight lifters, football players, gymnasts, and javelin throwers) are at increased risk for developing this defect, as are Inuit (Eskimos).

A doctor diagnoses spondylolisthesis from a person's symptoms and the results of imaging tests, such as X-rays or an MRI.

Treatment usually includes a combination of bracing, exercises and stretching, and pain medicine. Sometimes surgery is also needed.)
