Help Molly with Evans disease

Molly is an 8 year old Labrador retriever who loves walking and her ball! She is a much loved family pet who brings much joy and love to our family.

Yesterday afternoon (22/03/18) we took her to the vets as she was off colour and not eating her food which is normally gone as soon as it’s put down. To our surprise, the vet expressed her worry that Molly was bleeding internally as her abdomen was swollen and fluid could be felt. Molly was transferred straight to the vets main treatment centre where blood tests and X-rays we’re peformed to try and understand what wasn’t going on. The results showed she has an autoimmune disease known as Evans disease. Evan's disease in dogs results when the animal develops two distinct blood diseases at the same time. The disorders involved are immune-mediated hemolytic anemia and immune-mediated thrombocytopenia... so essential Mollys body is attacking itself and destroying her own blood cells.

She has been on steroids overnight to try and encourage her bone marrow to start reproducing blood cells. However, this morn the vet has informed us that her blood count has dropped another 7% overnight and is now in a critical condition. The only option is a blood transfusion to try and replenish her blood cells.

The cost of this treatment has already mounted to around £750 in one day with the prospect of her being transfered to a specialist centre for fur her care which we’ve been told will be £3000. I am hoping to raise funds ASAP to ensure Molly gets the care she needs as we don’t have any pet insurance in place and it’s heartbreaking to know she’s critically ill and we don’t want to have a financial burden that has to play a role in the care she receives.
