Campaign Story
Hi, I am Missy, an 11-year-old mixed breed dog.
It all started last July 2020. One morning, I woke up in pain and could not walk. I couldn't even stand up to pee and peed on myself.
We went to the vet and the doctor said I had severe ear infection. It was a difficult time for me and my humans because there were times I could walk then suddenly, I would cry in pain and could no longer walk again.
After months of extreme care (my humans hand-fed me, made me drink from a syringe and assisted me when peeing and pooping), medications and constant check-ups, I was able to walk again but could no longer climb stairs or walk/run fast.
Then in November 2020, I began to sneeze---constantly. I would sneeze so hard that I would stand up from my sleep. I was brought to the vet again and she said I had bronchial pattern and got prescribed antibiotics.
I did not get better, and the sneezing got worse. I was brought to another vet and this time, the vet said I had nasal tumor, a rare type of cancer among dogs. I was prescribed two-week antibiotics and nebulizer to see how I would react to medication.
After only a few days, my nose was eaten away---FAST. I no longer had a nose.
My sneezing also did not get better and I had trouble breathing. I was brought to that same vet and got told I needed biopsy so we could know what type of cancer I had and what kind of chemotherapy I needed.
We went to a new vet to get a second opinion to know if I could still handle chemo. This time, the new vet said I did not have nasal tumor but a bacterial infection.
My humans are very confused, frustrated and extremely worried because the vets are saying different things and we do not know if I have cancer or not.
They want me to get a blood test to know if it really is a bacterial infection or biopsy if it really is nasal cancer. They are doing all they can but because of the constant check-ups and medications, they have exhausted their funds for tests and possible chemotherapy / treatments.
If they confirm I have cancer, biopsy and chemo could cost roughly Php 27,000-Php40,000 (500-800 USD)
They really want to know what's wrong with me so I could get better. My 12th birthday is coming up in March and I want to celebrate it with my family.
Please humans, I am asking from the bottom of your hearts... help me and my family.
I promise to fight for my life so I could live longer for my humans.
