Hi everyone.

It was about a year ago that I met Mika and his brother Felix. They were part of a small litter of 3 cats that were found abbandoned under my friends back yard patio. When my friend found the cats they were still very small - about the size of a hamster, and seemed quite frail. My friend and I were determined to bring them back to good health and care for them until they were old enough to put up for adoption.

After about 5-6 weeks of carring for the kitties I could not even imagine giving them up for adoption. My friend and I decided we would keep the cats. She kept the small female cat that we named Peanut, and I kept Mika and Felix, two males.

Unfortunately, when Mika was about 4 months old, I started to notice his left eye seemed cloudy, and with time it got worse. My adorable little kitty was loosing his sight in his left eye due to a developing cataract. I noticed that he seemed less agile and less active with time, unlike his brother Felix.

Being on a very tight budget I was reluctant to take Mika to the vet considering the very high costs of veteranary procedures, but decided to get a consultation. I was advised that Mika did infact have a cataract in his left eye, and the surgery to correct the condition would cost about $1900 - $2200 CAD, and that I would have to take him to another city to visit a specialist as there are none where I live.

Since then I have started a small savings fund for Mika that I try to build up whenever I can. To date I have managed to save up about $1050 CAD, but with a July 1st move just around the corner I may have to dip in to this fund a bit. I have been starting to wonder if I will manage to save up this $1900 in time before the condition gets any worse...that is where carring people like you come in.

I may not have kids, but I care for my cats as if they were my kids. They are such sociable and loyal little creatures. I am sure any pet owner can relate to the way I feel in this situation, and I hope you will open your hearts for this little guy.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance for your support. Smile
