Dear fellow entrepreneurs

I created this campaign, to ask for assistance, to help Metalasia Densa Enterprise stay afloat and in a grateful gesture, we will give back to 6 disadvantaged families.

Metalasia Densa Enterprise is a black owned multi-service business, established in February 2020, just a month shy of national lockdown. The decision for a multi-service operation was inspired by the individuality and passion of the founders. Our main focus was Mountain Hiking and Township Tours, but due to COVID19 and lack of funding, we were forced to put all operations on hold.

My name is Gloria Ntsento, co-founder of Metalasia Densa. I am a former medical student in Cuba, unfortunately, due to a pressing family matter, I had to abandon my medical studies and return to South Africa in 2018. Finding a job in South Africa proved futile, so, my friend who was working for a Landscaping company, told me about a learnership that runs yearly at her company. I applied, got called for the interview and I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity- that is where I met Mzwandile Fulani, who invited me on my first mountain hike. Since classes were rendered once a week, and we had to wait to be placed on-site, to practice what we learnt in class, I asked Mzwandile to tag along, when he went to his sites. I went on several more hikes and volunteered at one of the schools where Mzwandile volunteers and I was hooked. If passion was contagious I would say it got me good. The learnership was coming to an end and there was no sign that I was getting an offer after the learnership. I was so frustrated, that I started applying at retail stores, restaurants etc.-to no avail. Two months before the learnership ended, I sat Mzwandile down, we revisited the idea of starting our own company- since I always nagged him about starting a business, he finally agreed. We registered the business in February 2020, the same month my contract was ending.

Mr Fulani is a horticulturist and environmentalist by profession and has been volunteering for many years with various educational, horticultural and environmental programs. In some cases he has started and supported programs at local schools out of his own funds. He volunteered for over 20 years with Pride of Table Mountain, a group that introduces kids to the mountain and the nature it represents. He volunteers and coaches at schools, planting trees and helping with vegetable gardens. He had the opportunity to plant trees in Zambia for 2 months with the previous company he worked for. He was also invited to Germany by his friend to speak about Pride of Table Mountain in 2018. Mzwandile has been hiking mountains since the age of 14, he is a teacher at heart, and he loves teaching about nature. A man, who would rather take the last money in his pocket, to help those who need it most.

A handful of people have asked us why we selected the name ‘Metalasia Densa’, firstly, it’s a plant that is indigenous to South Africa, found on mountains, easily adapt to its environment- which describes us in a nutshell.

We would really appreciate it, if you would help us raise R 150 000. This money will help used purchase a farm and some of the funds would be used to buy a month worth of groceries for 6 families, who got hit hard by COVID19.
