Hello My name is Melina. I am volunteering in Costa Rica with International Volunteer Headquarters. I am passionate about ocean life and sea turtles are just one species I feel strongly about. I've always felt connected to the ocean. I am so excited to go to Costa Rica and immerse myself in the culture and help save the sea turtles. Sea turtles are threatened in many ways in Costa Rica. This is due to poachers collecting there eggs, meat , skin and shells or accidentally being captured by fisherman. Sea Turtles are critically endangered and soon to be extinct if we don't take matters into our own hands. During my 3 months in Costa Rica daily activities include collecting eggs, monitoring nests, feeding, cleaning building hatcheries to protect eggs from predators, and counting and tagging sea turtles and releasing them safely into the ocean. As a bonus I will be taking language lessons and learning about the Costa Rican culture. I have chosen to volunteer to help conserve our planet so our future children will be able to see all of the exotic animals and life forms that still remain. Please help me raise money for my trip as I strive to save these majestic creatures. Thank you for your consideration. Together we can make a difference.
