Help Mel Fight Stage IV Rectal Cancer

Update posted by Daniel Natividad On Aug 22, 2016

Thank you Lord for the miracle! We were told before the operation that not all tumors can be remove via surgery. But thru God's grace and guidance, doc cortez and his team were able to remove 100% of all visible tumors! Mel was in the OR from 3pm till 5am and needed 16 bags of blood! Mel is now ok! I have seen and spoken to her. Her vital signs are ok but she still needs to be in ICU to monitor her progress. Thank you sa lahat ng prayers! God truly listen to us! Our family's next battle is recovery and chemo to eliminate any microscopic cancers cells remaining. Please continue to pray for us. Salamat po! -jm

Mel will be admitted on Friday, August 19 and will undergo Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) on August 20 at around 4 pm.

This big step in claiming victory over her disease wouldn't be possible at this time without all the prayers and the support that you have given the family. Through all the donations, the family were able to amass the amount needed for the medical bond (down payment) making the surgery possible. With that, we are really grateful as the urgency of the procedure cannot be overstated.

Please continue including Mel on your prayers and sharing this page so it may reach more people.

Again, thank you and God Bless!

" Last Wednesday (August 10), I went back to Dr. Cortez to ask for the risks involved in the procedure. He said that the procedure has 30% morbidity and 5% mortality rates.

It was also noted that the procedure will not totally remove the cancer in her liver and chemotherapy will need to follow after 6 weeks.

If all goes well, Mel with undergo the procedure within August."
