I hope you get to read the entire story 🙇🏾‍♂️

I have been a student in South Africa for almost 4 years now and it has gotten to the time for me to return home to Nigeria. However, with the ongoing political situation in Nigeria which has cost the lives of many youths in the country including the government taking away freedom of speech and expression from the people, I don't feel it will be such a great idea for me to go home as this would be another traumatic experience for me. I have been a victim of such brutality in the country and I am afraid I might be a target again if I was to return to Nigeria.

Upon taking the courage in 2016/17 to accept my sexuality, it has been a rollercoaster journey.

South Africa gave me the hospitable environment to come out and embrace my true self. it has been amazing. I have never been judged based on how I dress, look, talk etc. it’s beautiful living a liberal society.

I struggled to come out to my trueself back home, in Nigeria. A law was passed in 2015/14 criminalizing homosexuality has made it difficult for me to express myself freely when I go home. The few times I’ve been home, I faced countless profiling from the people. I have been harassed for “acting like a girl,” threatened to be reported to the law enforcement for being gay. I’ve literally had to hide from certain people so as not to be arrested. I’ve also been warned never to step foot in Nigeria else, I would face mob justice.

All these have hindered me from going home. I am not accepted in my home country.

I have relied on NGO funding for my education and now that it is coming to an end, I have to fend for myself. Attaining a permit enough to keep me here, in South Africa is the decision i have taken. However, I am lacking the financial means to make this happen and that is why I am reaching out and seeking your help to raise funds to get a permit to remain in South Africa.

Please, I do not know what my fate may be if I ever go back home.

I would really appreciate your support , thank you.

A little drop of water can make a mighty ocean.
Your support will be highly appreciated and rewarded.

Thank you very much in advance.
