Hello! (I tried to keep it brief but also detailed at the same time.(and make sense of my fundraiser))
I'm a 19 year old female who will be doing her second year of study for a commerce degree. I come from an underprivileged background, living with my mom and small brother. My mother works as a domestic worker, and as you can already figure, her salary isn't much, but we manage to get by in assuring that we have the basic necessities. My mother works utterly hard to ensure that her children get a better life and future than she has/had and I am utterly grateful for that. However, being able to help where/when needed is something that I have been meaning to do for a couple of years now.
For some time now, it has always been my dream to start a small business at an early age, but I never new what services I would be interested in offering. However, early 2020, I got inspired to start an organic cosmetics business, and being exposed to quite a number of young entrepreneurs fulfill their dreams only fueled up the entrepreneurial passion in me. Of cause, I took some time to do some research about the organic cosmetics field (took +4 months) and by the time that I felt I had enough information, it was time to raise capital for my "business". With unemployment at an all time high, finding part time work for myself was an exhausting task. I tried researching other means of making money, eg, through apps, surveys, stokvels, etc, and they just all, unfortunately, proved to be unsuccessful. The only form of financial income that I would receive is a monthly R350 ($24) as my bursary allowance.
I then decided to put my dream on hold until I figure something out. As time went by, my inspiration and passion to become an entrepreneur grew even more. I started to learn more, kept on updating my business plan and so far, I now have a total of six business ideas that I've grown a passion for.
Coming here is my last resort. I have seen so many people reach their goals/dreams by getting assistance from people around them and internationally. I have been dismissing the thought of having to open a fundraiser to raise capital as I figured it wasn't a good enough reason or valid enough to peak people's interest in lending a helping hand. However, I now have decided to move past that train of thought and open a fundraiser to give me a glimpse of hope of soon being able to start up my own business.
Also, by being able to do so, I would be able to help my mother out tremendously in the near future with a much more stable and a reliable source of income and she would't have to stress so much about taking care of her family on a monthly income of R3000 ($200).I understand fully that starting and maintaining a business is no childs game, however, I believe that I had just about enough time to sit down and consider this, dis months of research about it, took some time to learn about the fundamentals of product formulation, etc, and my gut feeling believes in my drive to make my dream a reality for as long as I have goals and ambitions.
Whatever amount donated would be highly appreciated. Having to be able to to fulfill the above goals of mine through the help of others who care would be a dearly cherished dream come true.
