My name is Camila and I am 23 years old. I was born in Salvador and I grew up in Serrinha, a small city located in the countryside of the state of Bahia, Brazil.
Despite growing up in a loving family, my life was never easy. Despite her lack of financial resources, my mother taught me from a young age that education is a life-changing tool. Her unconditional support and my relentless efforts paid off. In 2017, I became an undergraduate student of psychology at the Federal University of Bahia.
I always dreamed of going abroad, so I studied English by myself and managed to learn this beautiful language.
In January 2020, I was selected to participate in a exchange program sponsored by the Government of Canada, at York University. I still can’t find the words to describe what I felt the moment I received this big news.
Canada was too good to be true. I met many interesting people here and expanded my horizons in a way that I never expected. I became fluent in English and lived countless wonderful experiences. When my exchange got to an end, it was clear that I wasn’t ready to go back to Brazil.
Determined to keep my dream alive and stay true to my journey of acquiring knowledge, I applied for the Development Services Worker Program at Fanshawe College. I was accepted in the program, but I now need to raise $32,000 dollars to pay my tuition.
You can help me achieve my dreams by donating any amount you want.
I am also raising money in Brazil. Any quantity I receive from there, I will update it here.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me an email at [email protected].
Thank you very, very, much.
