Thanks for taking the time to visit my GoGetFunding page!
Some of you may already know but for those of you who don't here is the plan: In September 2016, for 12 weeks I will be going to Ubud in Bali alongside other young volunteers to teach English to primary school children.
Volunteers teach in a primary or secondary school in one of the smaller villages outside the town of Ubud. The schools that I will be working with are underfunded and staff are usually poorly paid. The presence of a English teacher really benefits the children’s pronunciation and can also help empower local teachers who may be looking for additional assistance with their own education.
Whilst there I also have the opportunity to help with the local Turtle conservation program. Within this project I’ll work alongside a dedicated local team to help protect and conserve this vulnerable, endangered species. The aim of the project is to protect the endangered sea turtles of Indonesia via both proactive and reactive activities. As well as this vital conservation work I will be given the chance conduct informative sessions on environmental education at one of the local schools on the island and also teach English. Since visitors and tourists are in short supply on this island the community haven’t come across many native English speakers and certainly haven’t been taught by many, so my experience will certainly be authentic and unique!
Anything from as little as £1 would be much appreciated to help me to serve this program to the best of my ability and further my own life experiences.
