Help me to help

I have started on a Diploma in Humanistic Counseling and a BSc (Hons) degree in Reflective Therapeutic Practice which will able me to practice as a counselor in 2 years time.

Those of you who know me well are as convinced as I am that this is my path. Becoming a professional counselor/therapist in order to help people is something I was born for.

But to those of you who don't know me so well, or at all, I hope this will help you to see my story:

If you have known me for many, many years you can remember how I would stand by
the ones who could not stand so much by themselves. Living in a multi-cultural neighborhood in southern Norway I fought a lot. In school and around the playground I fought for justice and equality and against discrimination and racism. As I got older, the more diplomatic my conflict resolution became, and I moved away from the primitive physical way of defending the ones in need of support.

Some of you might know me from the caretaker positions I've had as an au-pair,
kindergarten teacher, teacher, special needs assistant and other similar positions, whether it was full-time, part-time or a weekend personal care. I remember my first professional gig in the healing business. I was 12 years old and held a kid with Cerebral palsy on horseback during his therapeutic riding sessions (they had to use kids because of weight limit for the horse).

Some of you might have come across me on my travels, where I would strike up a conversation, I rallied for inclusion, and, starting out as total strangers, we would leave each other as friends.

Some of you might have come across me on your own travels when I was the receptionist at various hostels in Paris. We would play games at the bar; discuss politics, religion or how to get to the Eiffel Tower. I was there through your troubles that come with travelling and I was there to celebrate your birthdays, engagements and other joys of life.

Some of you I have given shelter, whether it be physical shelter or spiritual shelter. You only know me with my door open.

Now, I am appealing to your help.
