"He who fights, can lose. He who doesn't fight, has already lost"
My name is Effie and i'ma Ph.D. Candidate at university of Athens (Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia).
I would be out-of-my-mind grateful if you would support my crowd funding to raise money for 6 months living expenses.
in Greece there is no financial support for the PhD candidates. This means that they are not paid by the University for their research work.
My financial goals are as follows:
1. Paying for an apartment each month. Total needed €400.00 per month*6= 2400
Then there are the recurring monthly expenses during the reserach period at Attiko Hospital
2. Minimum of €350 a month needed in supplementary income during the reserach period at Attiko Hospital (6 months) to pay for living expenses such as bills, fiood, health insurance, etc... 350*6=2100
Total needed during reserach period (6 months): 2400+2100= 4500
Your generosity will go directly to covering the 6 months living expenses.
Target deadline date of February 15st, 2020. This is to secure my participation in the research because without securing a livelihood, I can't start a research that requires full employment and focus.
Its not easy for me to ask for help, but without your support i would quite literally be able to do it.
Please know that if you choose to donate, any amount will make such an impact, just knowing you support me in this work!
THANK YOU :)

My postgraduate research was focussed on digital storytelling as a method in health research. Digital storytelling is an emergent method in health promotion.
So, my research was focussed on how do women with breast cancer give a meaning to their experience and in which ways the digital storytelling can help reduce the stress and depression that accompany the illness. The sample consists of five participants, 38 to 62 years old, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer of stage I, II and III, at least two years before the creation of the digital narrations. These narrations were compiled through three personal meetings with the participants as well as through digital communication (viber, e-mail etc). The analysis of the collected material was made with the narrative approach and the method used is triangulation. The qualitative method of narrative approach had the main role, and the questionnaires a supplementary one.
Digital storytelling is an arts-based research method with potential to elucidate complex narratives in a compelling manner, increase participant engagement, and enhance the meaning of research findings (Vecchi, Kenny, Dickson-Swift , Kidd 2016). This method involves the creation of a 3- to 5-min video that integrates multimedia materials including photos, participant voices, drawings andmusic (Lambert 2007, 2013 Story Center). According to Fischer (1987), narrativization is a natural need of humanity, which contributes to the classification of experiences and the transition from individual to common experience. Booth (1994) argues that it is also a way to look back in order to move forward. The storytelling, a product of spoken word, is a basic tool of historical memory (Tsilimeni, 2007). What makes the well- prepared narrative so powerful, so relieving, so dangerous, so culturally essential is to turn the private problem into public malice. The great storytelling is an invitation to discover the problem, not a lesson to solve it. In the long run, the great storytelling refers to the tribulations and the road, not so much in the inn where it leads "(Bruner, 2004). Gersie (1997) argues that our desire to narrate, the possibility to judge while narrating and the capability to learn from it consist the basis to organise our psychic apparatus. They help us develop and eventually become who we are, ourself, our personality.
The above results were particularly encouraging for the contribution of digital storytelling to healthcare. So, i decided to pursue my research as a doctoral candidated. More specific, I am a year registered and I am conducting my research at Attica Hospital. My research involves the whole unit of the 4th hospital surgical clinic (doctors, nurses, specialists, administrators, paramedical staff, students and patients).
