Help me to be a change in the world!

My name is Camille and I have recently been accepted to participate overseas in a volunteer leadership with EDventure! And.. I am so excited! EDventure is a wonderful volunteer organization which offers participants, leadership and personal development, whilst engaging in meaningful projects in the developing world. This is such a great deal to me because this is finally my chance to reach outside of the Houston community. All through my years of high school, I either volunteered at Methodist Hospital, Lawndale Art Center, or school volunteer opportunities. Now that I am in college, I still offer my services at Lawndale Art Center every November, but now I am currently teaching 5 year old girls lessons about God every Wednesday night at my church. EDventure serves as a great opportunity for me to volunteer outside of Texas and assisting in humanitarian projects in Cambodia.

During my program, I will spend 3 weeks engaging in leadership development workshops with other volunteers, while applying these skills directly to efforts in school in Cambodia. I am contacting you to request sponsorship for a portion of my program costs. I will be directly involved in creating positive change and providing direct support within Cambodia. While working in classrooms, I will teach groups of children reading and writing skills, art and organize sports and group activities and learn firsthand about environmental issues that affect us on a global scale.

This experience will no doubt push me beyond my comfort zone and allow me to fully experience learning in a new and unique format. Additionally, this experience will provide me the skills I need to enhance my resume/CV and prepare me to be to be an asset in the professional world as I pursue a career in Communication Sciences & Disorders and hopefully graduate in the spring 2017 at University of Houston.

Any financial YOU could provide for my EDventure Program would be greatly appreciated. I'll be forever thankful! The overall cost for the 3 week program is $3300 (excluding flights). This includes my accommodation, meals, project resources, transportation within Cambodia, and financial support for the community in which I will be volunteering.
