Help Me Save Rhinos? Rhi-not!

Hi friends!  As part of my upcoming trip to Africa, I'm hoping to be able to volunteer at Imire Wildlife Conservation Center as part of their Black Rhino and Elephant Conservation project.  You can read more about Imire and their efforts to save the Black Rhino here:  www.imire.org.As a volunteer my time would be spent performing animal care (cleaning pens and feeding), game park management (light construction work, maintenance of fences, water holes, etc), and, most importantly, anti-poaching work including border patrol and snare removal.  Black rhinos are facing extinction due to the global black market for their horns.  Imire suffered the loss of almost all of their rhino herd in 2007 to poachers, and are slowly rebuilding the group now.  In addition to the field work, volunteers work with local community leaders and schools to provide education on conservation, health issues, and other various subjects.So why am I asking for money?  I know, it's not like I'm running a marathon or biking 100 miles.  And yes, the opportunity to be up close to rhinos and elephants will be amazing.  But volunteer projects of this nature are expensive to participate in, as the center runs primarily on volunteer donations.  And hey, it may not be a marathon, but shovelling rhino poop doesn't sound so great :)  All donations will be used solely to cover my cost of attendance (i.e. I'm not going to spend your money on a beach hut in Zanzibar), and any excess money raised I will donate to Imire directly.Unfortunately I can't offer much in the way of tangible rewards - and I don't think anyone really wants dried rhino poop as a gift - but anyone who donates will be included in photo and email updates from the project, and I will do my best to provide recognition from Imire as well as gifts for top donors.If you aren't inclined to give, please consider at least sharing this on social media as you see fit, or making your own donation directly to Imire!Thanks in advance!Kerry
