I was recently accepted for a partial bursary by the Coady International Institute, at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Coady International Institute is a world-renowned centre of excellence, established in 1959. The Institute is committed to reducing poverty and transforming societies by strengthening local economies, building resilient communities, and promoting social accountability and good governance.

The bursary is for a programme called Strengthening Inclusive Economies, which focuses on understanding the structure and dynamic of local economies and examines the different approaches to making these economies more inclusive and equitable. I applied to do this course owing to my passion for diversity and inclusion, and so it is my goal to apply the principles I’ll learn through this programme, in my work as a diversity champion in my country.

I am reaching out for assistance to pay for the remaining cost of the bursary. The full bursary costs $4 729,59, and I’ve been awarded $3 002,80. Therefore, I am required to pay the remaining $1 726,79. However, I also need asisstance paying for return flights, $979.37. So, in total I need $2706.16.

I cannot afford this amount owing to my limited salary, and my education expenses for another postgrad course I will complete this year.

A bit more about me; I am a Diversity & Inclusion representative at an ad agency in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I am in charge of managing the company’s D&I initiatives. Outside of the company, I co-organize SheSays events, for women in the creative and media industries.

Last year, my partner and I launched the Joburg chapter of this organization in May, with a successful panel event with leading women in the advertising and media industry.

Owing to my passion for female empowerment in the creative industry, I recently launched a networking platform called WeCreate; www.wecreate.directory. This platform is dedicated to connecting experienced and novice female creatives in the industry through this online forum.

I am a big believer in continuous self-development through education, and therefore, I hope to continue my studies in the fields I am passionate about; female leadership and diversity & inclusion.

I would appreciate your support in helping me attend this programme and ultimately contribute to the growth of my country through my efforts in driving diversity, inclusion and gender equality, both at a grassroots community level, and at an economic level.

I thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Kirigo Kamore
